The Occasional Shippment

Occasional thoughts from a young adult reveling in the messiness of life.

If Hope Floats, What Does Faith Do?

I have always been inspired by the idea that hope floats above all else—that as long as you have the ability to hope and to wish and to dream, you can transcend boundaries.

Hope is light, but if you loosen our grip even for a second, it will take off to the sky like a freshly-filled helium balloon.Hoping something will happen and believing—with every ounce of your being—that it will happen are two different things.

This, for me, is where faith steps in. Faith is powerful. Faith grounds the fleeting hopes with something real—a belief so strong that it endures through all and helps you circumvent roadblocks that inevitably get between where you are and where you want to be.

Faith rises above reason, rises above hope, and gives you strength you didn’t know you had. It enables you to take leaps that would otherwise be impossible.

Hope floats, but faith endures.
