Occasional thoughts from a young adult reveling in the messiness of life.
I knew it–at least, I should have known it. I should have known that the second I committed (in writing) to posting on a certain schedule, I would immediately fall into a bout of writer’s block. And guess what? It happened.
From its inception, this blog has been called “The Occasional Shippment” because it was supposed to be just that–occasional thoughts from a young adult reveling in the messiness of life. However, in reading all about how to get more followers on my blog, one of the top tips was to post on a regular schedule. So I threw the gauntlet down and committed to posting a new entry every weekend. Fail.
It’s not that I haven’t been writing. In fact, I have around 6 posts that are in some stage of completion, but the thoughts haven’t fully resolved themselves, so the posts sit in my drafts folder, beginnings without ends.
Luckily, I have discovered the wonder that is The Daily Post, the WordPress blog that provides ideas and inspiration to get, and keep, people posting. So until those blog drafts of mine resolve themselves into completion, I’ll take inspiration wherever I can find it.
With that, I give you my first post inspired by The Daily Post. Being that I love photography, I was naturally drawn to the Weekly Photo Challenge. This week, the theme is “silhouettes,” which happens to be one of my favorite photographic techniques. It took quite a few photography classes before I figured out how to create a silhouette on purpose, and ever since then, I’ve been setting many objects in the shadows of their beautiful backgrounds.
Here now are my contributions to the weekly photo challenge. All images below are from my recent trip to Italy. Enjoy!
